MoveMate: meet the people already on your way

Why it exists
You have already met most of the people you would get along with. Same platform, 8:15, every weekday. Same gym at seven. Same café on Saturday. The apps that promise to introduce you to people ignore all of that and hand you a two-kilometre radius of strangers instead.
MoveMate starts from the other end. Moves are how you travel; Stills are where you stop. Together they are the real shape of your week — and the overlap between two weeks is a far better reason to say hello than a distance.
How it works
- Moves are the trips you repeat: from, to, when, on which days, and how — fourteen modes, from metro and bus to auto, carpool and ferry. Each Move carries its own privacy level, and the default shows only the area.
- Stills are the places you keep returning to: a gym, a library, a coworking space, a temple, a park. Home, office and school are treated as sensitive — forced private, and never used for matching.
- Matching scores the overlap: the same station within 300 metres, the same area within 750, the same neighbourhood within two kilometres, and how well your times, directions and days line up. Moves carry 65% of the score, Stills 20%, shared interests 15%.
There are four modes — Dating, Friends, Companion and Networking — because a person who shares your commute might be any of those, and pretending they can only be a date makes the product smaller and worse.
What is in the app
- For You, a daily Explore set, and Liked You.
- Chat that opens only between mutual matches.
- Move Buddy — who is on one of your Moves today, within half an hour of your time — plus Move Streaks, 24-hour stories and short thoughts.
- Selfie verification, with later photos checked against the verified selfie.
- Block, report and pause, one tap away.
Pay once. Nothing renews itself.
There are no subscriptions. Plus and Gold are bought for 30, 90 or 365 days (Plus from ₹99, Gold from ₹199), and Boosts never expire. When the time you bought runs out, it simply ends — nobody finds a charge they forgot about.
Where it stands — September 2026
- Live on Google Play and the App Store — version 1.2.21, released on 8 and 9 September. The first commit was in April 2026.
- Recent work: discovery rebuilt for a larger user base, a same-gender filter for Companion mode, and a clearer consent screen before any background location is used.
What has been hard
Apple rejected the app three times in its first month. Hiding a buy button was not enough; any trace of a paywall outside In-App Purchase failed review. That forced the payments to be rebuilt — and the rebuild is where "pay once, nothing renews" came from. The constraint made the product better.
The other hard thing was honesty. An audit of the website and store listings removed about seventeen claims the product could not stand behind, including one that said the verification selfie is deleted when it is in fact kept. A sentence about biometric data has to be exactly true, or it should not be there.
